plywood boat seat base
Re: what plywood for seat cushions? i had a 1996 bayliner. factory painted seat cushion plywood and side panel plywood rotted away in 2000. i replaced it with exterior plywood totally sealed with 2 coats of minwax spar varnish, about $10 from home depot. when i sold the boat 7 years later in 2007 all of the replaced wood still looked brand new.. This seat base is trashed, completely rotted. i don't even want to put it back in like it is. finally, remove the starboard side rear seat base in the bow. this one is in ok shape. it looks like it had some patchwork done to the plywood when the previous, previous owner had the interior vinyl done in what okie tells me was 2009.. A seat base should have bolts that go through wood floor and anchot to a square plate (usually alluminum) approximately as wide as seat base, this way any upward or sideways pressure is applied to a large area, not just the screw few threads through a 1/2" sheep to pluwood..
